Ameya Pawar
Ameya Pawar was a member of the Chicago City Council in Illinois, representing Ward 47. Pawar assumed office in 2011. Pawar left office in 2019.
Pawar ran for election for Chicago City Treasurer in Illinois. Pawar lost in the general runoff election on April 2, 2019.
Pawar was a member of the Chicago City Council in the state of Illinois, representing Ward 47 from 2011 to 2019. He was elected in 2011. He was the first Asian-American to serve on the Chicago City Council.[1]
On January 3, 2017, Pawar declared that he would run for governor of Illinois in 2018.[2] He dropped out of the race on October 12, 2017, stating he did not have the campaigns funds necessary to be competitive.[3]
