Amie Neiling participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 2, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Amie Neiling's responses follow below.[1]
What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1) Redistricting Reform - having an nonpartisan coalition creating our district maps instead of having the party in power draw them 2) Healthcare Access - ensuring that our most vulnerable populations: low income people, children, people with disabilities, and the elderly are able to get access to high quality healthcare without arduous requirements |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | I want to be able to help those that feel they've been forgotten or put aside; the working poor, people of color, women, people in the LGBTQ+ community, people who live in rural areas, the elderly. I want those people to have a voice and I want to be an advocate for them. These are the people that make up the majority of our population, yet they are not represented or treated fairly and I want to help bring an end to that.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[3]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Amie Neiling answered the following:
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
“ | To be a good leader I feel you need to be ethical, accountable, have a passion to help, be willing to listen more than talk, know where to locate resources and when to use them, and to keep people at the heart of all you do.[3] | ” |
“ | My first job was as a server at Steak N' Shake when I was 16 and I worked there for about a year.[3] | ” |
“ | My fireplace. Neither myself or my husband had one in our homes growing up and that was something we always wanted in our own home. When we were finally in a place to buy our first home, that was the one thing we knew we wanted and it gave us such a sense of pride. I love to curl up in the chair next it and read a book, it brings me such a feeling of contentment and comfort.[3] | ” |
“ | Penny Lane[3] | ” |
“ | Absolutely! It's always beneficial to build relationships with people - it's how you learn and grow.[3] | ” |
“ | A non-partisan counsel should be in control of drawing the maps, not the party that has control.[3] | ” |
