Amile Wilson is an entrepreneur with multiple successful businesses in the entertainment and real estate industries. More importantly, he is the husband of Kathryn and father to Charlotte and Dorothy. A graduate of Belhaven University and Reformed Theological Seminary, Amile Wilson has held professorships at Millsaps College, Jackson State University and African Bible College. He is an active member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Jackson and is dedicated to making Mississippi a better and more free place to live, work, and raise a family.
  • The crime and infrastructure in Jackson is untenable. We need state solutions to help fix these issues and correct a system-wide failure.
  • Mississippi industry is over-regulated. It's time to open up the markets for competition to help our economy and the consumer.
  • It's time to create an educational system that incentivizes children - not the system itself.
I'm passionate about the system of logistics and minutia of getting things right the first time. Too much legislation is passed with broad strokes to then be "fixed" by a court or a regulatory agency. We need legislators who work to actually craft law and get it done right the first time.
Too many failed attempts at legislation have created failed policies on crime, housing, education and other key industries. I'm passionate about setting systems that work - and work right the first time!
The legislature should always serve as oversight and a check on executive power, but should always be looking for ways to collaborate to ensure that laws passed by the legislature are effectively implemented.
The increasing urbanization nationwide is going to continue to be a challenge for our rural communities.
It can be. What is important is that the legislators understand the law and how it impacts everyday people.
The legislature is run off of relationships. The only way to accomplish anything is to be winsome toward your cause and win the votes. That takes positive relationships.
As a legislator, you're always looking to build consensus. Compromise should be about building that consensus, never about sacrificing values.
