Expand all | Collapse all

Amy Elik is a lifelong supporter of the Second Amendment, defender of the unborn, and backs economic policies that encourage people to stay in Illinois rather than the current climate which pushes people to leave the state.

A lifelong resident of Madison County, Amy Elik has spent the last twenty-five years working as a Certified Public Accountant and auditor for small businesses and local governments. Amy is currently a Foster Township Trustee, and has served St. Mary's Church and School as a school board member and volunteer. She has been a member of the Rotary Club of the Riverbend, a 4H Club co-leader, and a volunteer teacher and business mentor with SCORE. Amy and her husband of twenty-three years, Don, live outside Alton with their two children.

  • As a CPA, Amy Elik has twenty-five years experience in balancing the books of local governments and small businesses. Amy will pinpoint areas of waste as a first step in putting Illinois on a path towards fiscal solvency.
  • Amy opposes efforts to increase the tax burden on families and small businesses. Recent income tax, real estate tax, and state fee increases have done nothing to get Illinois' spending under control. We must face our financial challenges rather than shifting them to the next generation.
  • As State Representative, Amy Elik will advance the needs and priorities of this district, not those of Chicago and Speaker Madigan. Amy believes the extreme fiscal and social policies don't reflect the values of District 111, and will be a voice for our border district.
The economic policies coming out of Springfield hinder growth and encourage people and businesses to leave the state. I will use my twenty-five years of experience as a CPA and auditor to find waste, fraud and costly corruption, in order to get the state's fiscal condition under control, pay our bills on time and reduce unnecessary spending.

I am deeply concerned about the constant attempts to limit our Second Amendment rights, and will defend those guaranteed rights in Springfield.

Others areas of personal interest to me are: property tax reform, pension reform, healthcare and Medicaid policies, and township government issues.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Illinois

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
