Jones completed a survey conducted by The Sun Focus:

Why are you seeking election to the Mounds View School Board?

As the current School Board Chair I am proud to be running for re-election. We have a strong and principled Board and have built an accomplished and admired district, one that is in demand and the envy of surrounding districts. Through solid leadership, innovative practices, a focus on all students through our Equity Promise and the support of our community, we are ready to build for the future.

I’m running for re-election to the School Board to advance the great work we’ve started over the last four year Specifically, I want to continue and build on the following:

  • 621’s reputation and history of academic excellence. Our students perform at top levels in both the state and nation. Irondale and Mounds View High Schools are both listed as one of the 10 most challenging high schools in Minnesota from the Washington Post.
  • Our financial stability through ongoing conservative budgeting.
  • Retaining our stable and effective work force, which includes amazing teachers and district staff.
  • Our Equity Promise, which ensures all students are prepared for post-secondary success regardless of race, class and disability.
  • Our Early College program, which we now offer at both high schools. We are leading the way for the state and nation in post secondary programming.
  • Stable class size
  • Our successful kindergarten centers

I am experienced, prepared and ready to continue my work on the Mounds View School Board. I understand the role of a School Board, and my skill set and background make me uniquely qualified to succeed in this work. I strive to be the voice for every student, teacher and family in the Mounds View School District. Please vote for me and the other incumbents on Nov. 3.

What are the top two or three priorities for the Mounds View School District in the coming year, and how would you address them?

  • Strengthen and expand our Early College program. Building on the fact that the class of 2015 earned 7,000 college credits for a total of $1.75 million in tuition savings, we will expand opportunities for our students to work toward their post secondary goals, regardless of socioeconomic status.
  • Identify program model and facilities for expansion of 4-year-old programming. We know that our district’s youngest citizens deserve excellent early childhood education, which prepares them for future academic success. We will develop a plan to expand our programming to serve the needs of 4-year-olds not already receiving quality early childhood education.[3]

2011

Jones completed a survey conducted by the Pioneer Press:

Biggest issue and how to solve it:

The most important issue facing Mounds View Schools involves funding decisions and ensuring increased student achievement for all. I will advocate for increased student achievement by making fiscally responsible and student-centered funding decisions that have the least impact on a student's classroom experience.[3]
