A recall election for Village Trustees Amy Martin and Eric Barbieri was scheduled for November 23, 2021, in Lannon, Wisconsin. The recall against Martin was unsuccessful, after she earned 55.7% of the vote.[1][2] The recall against Barbieri was successful, after he failed to advance to the next stage of the election.[3]
A runoff election for Barbieri's seat was scheduled for December 21, 2021, after no candidate earned a sufficient percentage of the vote in the November election to win outright.[3] Anna Robe won the runoff.[4]
Recall supporters opposed Martin and Barbieri's support for a municipal water expansion project. Martin and Barbieri responded by saying that the recall election was a waste of taxpayer resources, as their seats on the board were already scheduled to be up for election in 2022.[1]

Recall supporters
Tony Povletich and Christine Swearingen initiated the recall campaign. Swearingen said that the ground for the campaign was Martin and Barbieri's support for a municipal water expansion project, which required homeowners using well water to pay to connect to the municipal water system. Swearingen said that many constituents would not be able to afford to hook up to the municipal system.[1]
Swearingen also alleged that Barbieri had been absent from board meetings.[1]
Recall opponents
Martin gave the following comment on the recall campaign: "I feel that the recall is a waste of time, village resources and taxpayer money since both Trustee Barbieri and myself will be up for a re-election in April. ... I have done the job that I was elected to do to the best of my abilities and for those who feel that I haven’t, heading to the polls in April will be the way to go about creating this change. I am planning on running in the re-election and hopefully (will maintain) my seat on the Village Board."[1]
In response to the recall petition, Barbieri said, "Our job as trustees is to listen to all the information and feedback and make what we believe to be the best decisions for the village as a whole, understanding that not everyone is going to agree with every decision. ... A regular election is coming in April, and every two years, for those who want to make changes, so this recall timing seems barely justifiable."[1]

Organizers initially brought recall petitions before the village board on October 11, 2021.[1]
The filing deadline to run in the special election for the two seats on the board passed October 26.[1]
