Ana Gardiner
Ana Gardiner was a judge of the Seventeenth Circuit Court of Florida. She resigned on May 28, 2010.[1]
Noteworthy events
Charges of misconduct filed
Judge Gardiner was under investigation by the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission for allegations of improper contact with former state prosecutor Howard Scheinberg during a death penalty case. Charges were filed on March 3, 2010.[2][3][4][5]
Gardiner announced on April 21, 2010, that she would resign on May 28, 2010.[6][1]
Disbarred
The Florida Supreme Court, following the recommendation of the Florida Bar, disbarred Gardiner for lying about her relationship with prosecutor Howard Scheinberg on the stand. The court's unanimous decision, handed down on June 5, 2014, stated:
“ | Considering Gardiner's dishonest conduct and the harm that her actions have caused to the administration of justice in a capital first-degree murder case, we conclude that disbarment is the appropriate action.[7] | ” |
