Anamosa City Hotel Tax Increase, Measure G (November 2009)
There was an Anamosa City Hotel Tax Increase, Measure G on the November 3 ballot in Jones County for voters in the city of Anamosa.
The measure was approved.[1]
This measure increased the current tax on hotels and motels which was 5 percent and was raised to 7 percent. The money generated from this tax will go towards the general fund of economic development, tourism and recreation activities in the city.[2]
The proposed ballot read:
Shall the City Council of the City of Anamosa adopt an ordinance increasing the hotel and motel tax from 5% to 7% as authorized by Chapter 423A of the Code of Iowa (2009) in the incorporated area od the City of Anamosa effective January 1, 2010.
Said ordinance shall provide that all funds generated by the tax be used in accordance with law, for economic development, tourism, and recreation related activities.
