Anastasia Stone is running for California State Senate in District 19 in the 2020 election. She spent her collegiate career at Long Beach State in the field of early childhood education and family studies. Soon after, Anastasia trained with the Doulas ofNorth America (DONA) to become a certified doula; a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth in order to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. She began her career teaching doula care and effective advocacy at Go Midwife, a midwifery school that focuses on providing education for underserved populations. Over the years, her advocacy efforts have provided numerous opportunities to work with teen moms and pregnant women in drug rehabilitation, teaching her the positive effect of early intervention.

As a former foster parent, Anastasia has created cultural change in foster care and adoption for Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara Counties by bridging the gap between the faith communities and the foster care system to provide more resources to improve both recruitment and retention.

Anastasia currently lives in Santa Barbara with her husband and five children.

I am not a career politician by choice; advocacy is what matters to me - I want to hear what people have to say and give them a voice. Because legislators should be advocates for their constituents, first and above all else. ⠀

I believe that preventing problems from occurring in the first place is the key to seeing real and lasting change to California's greatest problems.

I am personally passionate about healthcare, education, and foster care/adoption. I believe when we do these things well we are able to prevent so many other problems like human trafficking, homelessness, incarceration rates, teen pregnancy, poverty, and more.

Did you know that children who age out of foster care have higher rates of homelessness, incarceration and teen pregnancy? Did you know that children in foster care are far more likely to be victims of human trafficking? When we serve the children who find themselves in foster care well, we prevent so many problems from occurring.

Did you know that one in five children are dyslexic? Did you know our legislature has failed to implement mandatory early screening or provide evidence-based curriculum to teach students to read?

Did you know that America is the only developed nation with a rising maternal mortality rate? Did you know that women of color are even more at risk of dying from pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum issues?

I have spent a decade in advocacy and I can tell you the key to every crisis we face is prevention
Transparency, accountability, accessibility, and integrity.

The core responsibilities of an elected official are to uphold the state and federal constitution. Your number one job is to protect citizens rights. You also need to be accountable and accessible to the district you serve. Making every effort to make sure every person's voice is heard and considered.
The responsibility to protect peoples rights by upholding the state and federal constitution.
No. So many politicians are bought by special interests and corporations. We need people who want to serve their community not people looking to climb the political career ladder.
