|I was raised by a single mother in Columbus, Georgia. My interest in serving my country lead to a career in the United States Air Force from 1993-2002. Since separating from the military in 2002, I successfully started and maintained a retail business in Valdosta, Georgia. I'm married and have three children and one grandchild. I'm a lifelong Democrat who respects the views of others. I believe that both parties should work together for the best interest of the people they are elected to serve. Veteran Affairs, business development, healthcare expansions, and improvements to our education system are a few of my key concerns.
- Healthcare - Appropriate healthcare options should be affordable and accessible to ALL people regardless of income and socioeconomic status. It's understood that there is not a one-size-fits-all solution for healthcare, Medicaid is fairly inexpensive to maintain. With that said, an expansion to Medicaid is fiscally responsible to ensure coverage for lower-income households.
- Education - The pandemic has weakened our states earning potential causing state agencies to have to prepare for a $3.5 billion budget cut which greatly affects our educational system(s) from K-12 schools. Proposals such as increasing cigarette taxes would help to cushion the blow of budget of recent cuts. Our children are our greatest investment in ourselves, as well as our future so it's important that we consider all options to ensure their development.
- Economic growth - Once the economic effects of the current pandemic lessen it will be imperative to stimulate business growth and development. When the budget allows, this can be done through grants, low interest loans from appropriate agencies, and classes set up to help would-be and existing businesses understand the real costs involved in their ventures.
