Andre Porter was the chairman of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission (PUCO). He was appointed to the position by Gov. John Kasich (R) in 2015, to a term that ended on April 10, 2020, but he resigned on May 20, 2016, in order to return to the private sector.[1][2] Porter is a Republican, but his role on the commission is nonpartisan.[3]
Porter previously served as a member of the PUCO from April 2011–April 2013. He left the commission in April 2013 to become director of the Ohio Department of Commerce.[4] Kasich appointed Porter to both positions.[5]
Biography
Prior to his appointment to the PUCO, Porter was an attorney at the law firm of Schottenstein Zox & Dunn. His practice focused on energy and utility regulation, along with real estate tax issues.[6]

Ohio Public Utilities Commission (2015–2016)
Porter served as chairman of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission from April 2015 to May 2016.[1] He resigned on May 20, 2016 in order to take a job in the private sector. Fellow commissioner Asim Haque succeeded him as chair.[2]
Director, Ohio Department of Commerce (2013-2015)
Porter assumed office as director of the Ohio Department of Commerce April 22, 2013. He stepped down in 2015 when Kasich appointed him to rejoin the public utilities commission and named him its chairman.[1]
Ohio Public Utilities Commission (2011-2013)
Porter's first stint on the Ohio Public Utilities Commission was from April 2011–April 2013. He left the PUCO to accept another appointment by Kasich as the director of the Ohio Department of Commerce.[4]
