Andrea Kelly Garrison grew up in Grosse Pointe Michigan in an Irish catholic political family. Her grandfather, Harry F. Kelly was a two-term Republican Governor of Michigan (1942-46). Andrea is a graduate of the University of Michigan and has spent her career at entrepreneurial companies and non-profits organizations. In 2003, Andrea was chosen by the State of Michigan to manage a 3-year multimillion-dollar program with the non-profit, MichBio, to create new jobs in the life science sector. Today, she works at Ultra Consultants assisting U.S. manufacturers and distributors to upgrade and modernize their critical business systems, that is especially critical in today's COVID-19 crisis as factories try to pivot to remote work. Her well-rounded background and community support has made her an exciting candidate to represent the District.
  • Pivot Back to Democrat. Shiawassee is a Pivot County and Andrea believes it is time to Pivot back to Democrat locally, at the State level and in the D.C.
  • Work with the Governor, not against her. Now is not the time to have a Representative who is working to undermine the Governor. We will be better off with collaboration.
  • Protect our Water. Andrea is passionate about the River that runs through her District and protecting its quality against PFAS and Sewage run offs that damage our environment.
Andrea has centered her campaign around 4 pivot points: Education, Environment, Healthcare and Jobs. Her passions are vocalizing the economic situation of her district and then working on real plans that will help them through the pandemic and the economic downturn. She brings compassion, empathy, and a strong voice to the table and will represent the "voiceless" in Lansing.
I look up to public servants, such as my Grandfather. He was a war hero and almost died as a teenager over in France in WWI. He had one leg amputated. He was very humble and never sought special treatment. He came back and had a stellar career in politics- from taking a dangerous job of prosecuting the Detroit Purple Gang, to becoming Attorney General, Governor and Supreme Court Justice. He also built a great family legacy through is marriage to my grandmother, who was his number one fan and true partner in and out of service.
To represent ALL constituents, especially those without any voice.
My first job would have been babysitting and pet sitting in middle-school. In high school, I did a year-long internship program with a retail store and learned all the facets of the business. I represented my school at the Michigan DECA that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs.
Pride and Prejudice. I love it because of one's view of who has pride and who has prejudice changes throughout the book. It is also a romantic love story, which is my weakness.
Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. I love that long magical journey she takes to learn to appreciate what she has already and how lucky she already is.
My Sharona (someone singing it as My Corona)
Michigan has numerous issues, but I would put at the top pivoting our future economy to become the world's "green" innovator in automotive, energy, infrasturture, etc.
One of partnership, not partisanship, especially during a pandemic and economic depression.
Yes, I am a bridge-builder. Fighting for the sake of making a point can leave behind the welfare of our counties and constituents. The people I repesent will always be who I work hard for.
I support the use of bipartisan or independent commissions to strengthen rules eliminating partisan map-drawing.
I have been heartbroken by hearing the stories of how COVID-19 has impacted everyone-but the saddest story is when someone I know was trying to get free COVID testing in our county and it was not available. It worries me that many of our community are not getting tested and this can be a big problem this Fall/Winter. I am working with the County Health Dept to see if they can get funding for a free testing site.
