Andrea Hulsman was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 63 of the Indiana House of Representatives.[1]

Campaign themes

2016

Hulsman's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education: Good schools make our community an attractive place to live, work, and raise a family.

  • Fully restore education funding so our schools can operate successfully
  • Provide a quality education for our children with less testing
  • Show respect and support for our teachers
  • State funding for early childhood education

Infrastructure: We are the Crossroads of America. Indiana is a network of communities that depend on a solid infrastructure system.

  • Maintain and improve the condition of our roads and bridges to attract new businesses, keep jobs and get us from here to there safely.

Jobs and Economy: Many families struggle to make ends meet. All Hoosiers deserve to make a livable wage to provide for their families.

  • Attract new businesses that provide well-paying jobs
  • Support small businesses
  • Address unfair practices that cause job loss
  • Promote education and training opportunities
  • Balancing taxes

Honoring Veterans:

  • We need to honor our veterans for their service to our country. We must provide them with healthcare benefits, education and job opportunities.

Hoosier Women: It is hard to believe that in 2016 one of the biggest challenges facing our state is the treatment of women.

  • Work toward equal pay for women
  • Promote the overall health of women and access to health services
  • Get more women involved in the political process as activists and candidates for public office

Hoosier Hospitality:

  • We have always been proud of this statement! However, recent legislation by the super-majority has tarnished our reputation for providing good hospitality. Indiana has lost much needed social and economic benefits that come with hosting major events because of this legislation.[2]
