|- IN State Senate District 46 is the economic and cultural hub of our city. District 46 includes creative entrepreneurs and long standing local businesses, vibrant neighborhoods and corporate headquarters, community-centered nonprofits, and public schools. District 46 needs a State Senator with the proven experience and ability to work across all these sectors and interests.
- For a decade I have been committed to serving children and families as an Indianapolis Public Schools Principal. Now, as an extension of that commitment to our community, I am running for public office. I will champion a better quality of life by listening to and working alongside the diverse and vibrant people, businesses, and neighborhoods that make up District 46. As a principal, I lead a staff of 50 employees and oversee a $4M budget. I am a proven leader with a bold voice. I am ready to lead our state forward.
- Many state policies are personal for me: from legislation impacting women’s health, education, minimum wage, organized labor, foster care-- these policies are personal for me and for many of you. I will work tirelessly to understand your challenges, what is personal and important to you, and advocate relentlessly at the Statehouse.
INCLUSIVE NEIGHBORHOODS: District 46 is made up of rich neighborhoods, and it is important that those communities remain strong and shift in ways that are supported by the residents who make them vibrant. We must promote inclusive growth and champion income diversity in our neighborhoods. We must make small businesses viable and increase safe places to walk, roll, play, and connect. I will champion legislation that supports these tenets, and proven strategies like community land trusts that ensure residents are at the table to manage how their communities grow.
EXPANDED TRANSIT: Our state has made great strides in providing better access to transportation for residents and visitors. District 46 will benefit from both the Purple and Blue Line Rapid Transit projects moving forward
Through my hard work and perseverance, I became the first person in my household to attend 4-year college, while maintaining above a 4.0 GPA. I know the sacrifice and hard work it takes to continue to push forward, even when it feels impossible. We need folks in the Statehouse who understand the challenges that working families face.
We must provide better and earlier support for pregnant mothers in order to improve the infant and maternal mortality rate. If we are truly a place that puts children and mothers first, we would focus on our infant and maternal mortality rate here in Marion County and across Indiana. While the infant mortality rate for Black babies has slightly improved in the past two years, our overall infant mortality rate -- for all moms-- is still too high. We’ve proven that our programs and supports are working- and we need to capitalize on that momentum and do more. The Marion County infant mortality rate is well above the state average and is on par with Kuwait.
It is critical that our elected officials can collaborate within the party, work across the aisle, and speak intelligently and passionately to the issues. I am that person. From growing up in Fort Wayne to student teaching in Columbus, Indiana, I'm able to see the priorities and issues here in Indianapolis and at the same time, I can empathize with the priorities and issues of rural communities.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
