Andrea L. Harnett
Andrea L. Harnett was a magistrate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She was appointed to the court in 1985.[1]
Education
Harnett received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
During law school, Harnett clerked for Judge Mary Johnson Lowe, served as an intern with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, and worked with the Greenhaven Prison Legal Assistance Project.[1]
Career
Harnett spent her legal career as an assistant United States attorney, working in several different divisions. She was appointed to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 1985. During Harnett's tenure on the court, she served in the criminal, family and civil divisions, in addition to the domestic violence unit. She also helped organize the domestic violence arraignment court.[1]
