Andrea M. Leahy (formerly Leahy-Fucheck) is an at-large member of the Appellate Court of Maryland. She assumed office in 2014. Her current term ends on December 31, 2034.
Leahy (formerly Leahy-Fucheck) ran for re-election for an at-large seat of the Appellate Court of Maryland. She won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Leahy was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley on February 24, 2014.[1][2][3]
The Maryland Court of Special Appeals became the Appellate Court of Maryland, following a 2022 constitutional amendment that changed the court's name.[4]
Biography
Leahy received her B.A. in music and politics from Catholic University in 1983 and her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 1987.[5] Leahy was a partner at the firm of Leahy & DeSmet, LLC from 2006 until her appointment to the Court of Special Appeals, later renamed as the Appellate Court of Maryland, in February 2014.[1] She has also previously served as the chief legal counsel for former Governor Parris N. Glendening, as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland, as an associate county attorney for Prince George's County and as special assistant and environmental policy advisor to the Prince George's county executive.[1][5]
