I am a lifelong Democrat, mother of 3, problem solver and state budget expert. My long career as a dedicated human services advocate has allowed me to negotiate hundreds of pieces of legislation and navigate state budget funding streams to benefit children and families. I retired as the President & CEO of the New York State Coalition for Children's Behavioral Health on July 1, 2022 to run for the New York State Senate in an open seat.
  • I will fight for freedom and rights. This include reproductive health rights and the freedom to make personal decisions without government restricts. I will defend voting rights in a region where the FBI has arrested and charged Republic Elections officials.
  • I will fight for a fair share of state funding for the rural and upstate communities that need water infrastructure modernization and improved high speed broadband. Drinking water quality and storm runoff are 2 major concerns. The climate changes are impacting the strong agricultural economy in my district and we are losing population due to the inability to create locally sourced marketplaces online and meet the demand for work from home.
  • I will continue my lifelong advocacy for families and specifically women and children - affordable housing, children's mental health benefits in Child Health Insurance Program and non-leaded toys and pipes.
Traditionally women dominated workforce: I have been an advocate for the care economy - the women in the workforce who work to keep families actively in the economy by caring for infants, children, adolescents and the elderly. The right to equal pay will be a key point of interest (child care, afterschool care, children's home based mental health care, hospice and home care). The workforce shortage is a key economic challenge as caregiver shortages impact family income and the ability for full employment because the cost of caretaking is too high or the availability forces caregivers to leave the workforce.

Water & Climate Change: In addition, I am passionate about guarding homes and communities against the negative impact of climate change. I will seek funding to harden the water infrastructure to be more resistant, remove leaded and aging pipes, and replace crumbling septic tanks to protect ground water.

Access to health care: This includes protecting access to reproductive health care and prescriptions, affordable health insurance and access to adequate mental health treatment and supports.
Vietnam War TV coverage that was graphic and the student protests circa 1970. I was 8 years old.
I worked as a lifeguard at the town parks in my community from age 15-20
The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. The rich historical setting of religious history and art history converging through the life of a woman.
New York has a Strong Executive model of government, but the role of the state legislature plays an important role of bringing the voice of local communities into shaping both the State Budget and legislative priorities.
Based on my district and professional experience, I am interested in serving on the Transportation Committee, the Children and Families or Mental Hygiene committees, the Agriculture or Environmental Conservation committees.
During my time as a children's mental health advocate, I have created family member Board of Director seats and incorporated the family voice into my advocacy. I have heard 100s of courageous stories of families overcoming incredible barriers to get care and treatment for their children and I will always seek the family voice in developing policy.
