Biography
Andrea Stephenson earned an undergraduate degree in May 1971 after studying at Barnard College, Columbia University. She also earned a certificate in clinical research from Gwinnett Technical College and master's degrees in epidemiology from the Columbia University School of Public Health and in applied social research from Florida State University School of Social Science and Public Administration. Her professional experience includes working as a county health department director, as a courtesy assistant professor at FAMU, as a coordinator for the Florida Legislature, as a consultant to FEMA, the CDC, and the Department of Juvenile Justice, as a consulting epidemiologist to the Maine Professional Standard Review Organization, as a consulting epidemiologist to the University of Southern Maine and to FSU, with the Incident Command and Emergency Operations Center work, as a clinical research consultant, as a small business owner, and as a travel agent.[1]
Stephenson has served as an elected committeewoman and board member of the Gwinnett County Democratic Party, as an elected committeewoman of the Georgia Democratic Party, as president of the Gwinnett Federation of Democratic Women, as an alternate delegate to the DNC Convention, as a member of the American Public Health Association, as an associate editor of the American Journal of Public Health, as a member of the Georgia Public Health Association, as chair of the Gerontology and EMS Sections of the Florida Public Health Association, as a member of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, as president of the Health and Social Research Connection, and with the American Sociological Association.[1]
