I’m Andrew De Mars, and I’m running to represent Zone 1. I’m a husband, a parent of two BSD students, and I work in software, partnering with some of the biggest companies in the world. I’m also currently the PTO president at two schools, a longtime classroom and art literacy volunteer, a youth sports coach, and a voter who cares much more about our schools than partisan politics.
  • I'm running as an independent, as an involved parent and volunteer, who wants to enact change for our students, not political parties, outside groups or my own political aspirations. This is, and always should be about the kids!
  • I have proven many times that cooler heads, common sense, mutual respect and diplomacy prevail.
  • We’re spending more and more money, and continuously achieving worse outcomes. We have lower math and reading readiness, declining enrollment with families fleeing to private, charter and online schools, and a widening gender learning gap. This is not sustainable.
Reviving public schools.

Access to sports and activities for children.
Health and wellness, especially for children.

Fiscal sustainability.
Honesty, integrity, transparency, accountability, and the ability to and courage to make hard decisions.

The connection with his father who had passed, while overcoming incredible odds. Many parallels to my own life , though worlds away.
