I am a Texas native, product of public schools, and the son of two educators. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2003 and the University of Texas School of Law in 2006. Since being admitted to the bar in November 2006, I have worked as a Briefing Attorney for the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, a prosecutor in Fort Bend County and Brazoria County, a criminal defense attorney, a civil litigator, and as Associate Judge of the Fort Bend County Courts at Law. I currently live in Katy, Texas, with my wife, Carolyn, and my daughters, Emma and Alice. In my 16 years as an attorney and associate judge, I have handled almost every kind of case that appears in front of the County Courts in Fort Bend County, and I've handled them from every direction that one can, from prosecutor to defense attorney to civil attorney to judge. I am ready to go to work for Fort Bend County on day one of my term.
  • In my time as an attorney, I've practiced in numerous courts in front of many judges. When you practice in front of so many kinds of judges, you learn what kind of judge you want to be. I will be a judge who follows the law fairly, applying it equally to all parties in front of me at all times.
  • I will be a judge who treats all participants in the justice system with dignity and respect, including respecting their time by beginning dockets on time and being present when they start. I will also show respect for the work done by attorneys prior to their hearings by being prepared, including reading pleadings and motions before appearances.
  • In the end, my judicial philosophy is simple: Be available, be prepared, be respectful, and be fair to all involved.
The justice system in Fort Bend County would not function without our citizens coming to the courthouse to fulfill their civic duty through jury service. It's one of the things in local government that I am especially dedicated to, and I will continue to use all efforts, powers, and abilities to promote jury service among the people of Fort Bend County. It's necessary, not only because it keeps the justice system working properly, but insures that all people who come to the Fort Bend County Justice Center seeking justice get the benefit of the best available pool of jurors to decide their case.
