The Judicial Update

January 24, 2013

Connecticut: On January 23, the Connecticut General Assembly confirmed Andrew McDonald, a former state Senator and General Counsel for Gov. Malloy, to the state Supreme Court. He will be the first openly gay person to serve on the court. The Senate voted 30-3 in favor of the confirmation and the House, 125-20. Some legislators worried about his lack of any judicial experience, but others held that his other professional and life experiences made up for it.[1]
