My name is Andrew McKinney and I want to represent the 16th Senate District as your Democrat state senator. I'm currently serving as president of the Monona Grove School Board, serving as member of the Youth Commissions committee for the Dane County Board and serving as an officer of the VFW Post 7591. I also served on the Dane County Credit Union Board and other community and higher education committee's.

I served my country on active duty, during the Gulf War, for six years in the Army. I have coached in a variety of sports for K-12 students, paid and volunteer, for over 20 years in our community. With 30 years experience in the private and public sector, I'm now ready to serve Wisconsin families and communities as your state senator. My wife of 17 years, Rhoda, and I have four adult children and two school-age children. I'm ready to be that powerful positive force for our community, dedicated to create great opportunities for all Wisconsinites. "For Education, For Veterans, For Healthcare, For Community, Together"

I'm an advocate of education that believes a strong public education system is the foundation of our society and that we must return to properly fund and invest in our public schools, local programs and services. Also, I will continue to fight for unions, increasing teacher salary, wages, benefits and workplace health and safety in public schools.

I'm committed to improvement of mental health and homelessness in the community of low income, single parent homes and veterans. I will expand on programs to provide people with treatments, daily assistance and increase the amount of community resources until they become independent for living in the community and job ready to support themselves and their families.
I will fight to increase minimum wage to a living wage and improve on policies on equity and social-economics and will fight for fair housing rights and fairness in the justice system for all citizens.

I'm an advocate in health care reform and will fight to pass a statewide health care plan in Wisconsin. I'm committed to making health care both affordable and accessible. I will continue to work to find effective and reasonably priced solutions to prescription drug costs and assure good quality health care for all citizens. Also, I will fight for healthcare workers rights, hospital protections and relief.
There were many people I looked up to, but the main one that was a huge influence in my life, was the late Principle Milton McPike. He was a great leader, a mentor, and a friend. He was a father figure to many of his students. I've been in education for 15 years and still would try to be him. I'm currently the president of the Monona Grove school board and I'm a respected leader, just like him. I want young students of color to look up to me in a positive sense, like I did with Mr. McPike. I want to show students of color that you can become a leader, in your community. Mr. McPike was the shining example of what a person of color can accomplish and I want to be that too.
My leadership that brings people together to work on issues to be solved and make a better place for all.
That I made a difference in the lives of my kids, my active and former students, and to the community.
I'm smart and intelligent, but where a mask everyday to work and protect those in need. So I would say "Batman".
As a 6'7" black man, I really don't need to respond to this question.
Absolutely. You can't get anything done without your peers. The people vote us in to do a job and that's working for the people. We must respect each other and each others opinions, in order to get results.
The past senator who became president, Barack Obama. He was a senator who listened and worked for the people.
