Career

Andrew Miller graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa. His family has owned Stimson Lumber for 165 years. The family owns 500,000 acres of forest land, which has helped the company survive state and federal deforestation bans. Stimson Lumber, according to the Willamette Week, makes over $260 million in sales each year.[2]

Miller is a prolific political donor. In 2010, Miller and Stimson Lumber contributed nearly $300,000 to Republican Chris Dudley's gubernatorial campaign in Oregon.[3]

In 2012, Miller contributed $650,000 to the Oregon Transformation Project, which, at the time, was seeking to install John Ludlow and Tootie Smith onto the Clackamas County Board.[4] Miller is the director of the Oregon Transformation Project, according to the Oregon Secretary of State website.[1] Miller spent over $20,000 on Republican Dennis Richardson's bid for Oregon governor in 2014 as did Stimson Lumber, making the total contributions over $40,000.[5]

In 2014, Miller contributed $31,000 to oppose Oregon state Rep. Jason Conger and supported the Republican candidate, Monica Wehby. According to Politico, in 2013, Miller and Wehby were dating, but the termination of the relationship resulted in Miller filing a restraining order against Wehby, after Wehby entered his home illegally. However, Miller continued to support Wehby's candidacy.[6]

In August 2015, Miller contributed $5,300 to the Independent Party of Oregon to help send out mailers. The mailers sought to help get people to register for the party, so that party could gain major-party status. Miller noted that "the Democrats are not business-friendly and the Republicans are too focused on social issues."[7]
