I am a US Army Veteran, and I have been involved in politics since the 2018 midterm election cycle. I chose to work with the nominee for the South Carolina State House District 47, part of my work with his campaign was researching current tax laws to see how to implement one of his campaign promises - to nullify state income taxes for teachers, veterans, and first responders. This research gave me an idea of just how much our government could be making in taxes to distribute to our schools, or to use for infrastructure to ensure every household in the state has access to high-speed internet, which became MUCH more necessary during the pandemic. Since that election, I have been heavily involved in my county’s Democratic Party. I currently serve as the president of my election precinct and have been in this role for the past two and a half years.
  • My top priority is equal access to affordable medical treatment for everyone. I feel there are far too many South Carolinians without access to affordable healthcare. This would include urging the governor to expand Medicare and Medicaid in South Carolina.
  • My second priority is to ensure every person with a uterus has access to medical privacy when it concerns their bodies. With the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, I fear South Carolina is going for a total abortion ban with the next session of the General Assembly.
  • My last priority is ensuring every child in South Carolina is able to receive a quality education. South Carolina is currently 43rd in the nation for education, this is a travesty, especially when you factor in we have what is called “The Corridor of Shame” which is a stretch that runs down Interstate 95 and contains the most underfunded schools in the state, and possibly the country.
I am extremely passionate about being able to actually affect change that the voters in my district, and the state, need. I want to be as transparent as possible, not only with the voters in my district, but also with everyone in the state. I also want the citizens to hold me personally accountable should I not follow through on a promise.
