Married to wife Jennifer and daughter Isabel. Graduated from Hart High School class of 2000 and earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University. Served in Michigan Army National Guard as a Machinist. I attend the Wesleyan Church. Presently I am the Manager for Major Produce Greenhouses and Nursery and serve as an Oceana County Commissioner representing Colfax, Elbridge, Ferry, & Leavitt townships. I am also a board member for Community Mental Health and serve as the liaison to the Oceana County Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Government does not grant us our Rights, we are born with them. We have to ensure government understands its Constitutional bounds and duties to protect those rights.
  • Citizens First, Lobbyists Last. We have a Right to know when Legislators travel out of state or to Tropical destinations to be educated by special interest groups. All travel out of state for educating our representatives must be required to be disclosed and made public.
  • My Fuel Tax for My Roads. Fuel taxes for roads must remain for roads and roads only. Every tax dollar spent here that goes to Detroit for their underutilized mass transit disaster must be stopped and kept here to fix our OWN roads for once.
Detroit Free Press   Featured local question
I prefer spending cuts to address the deficit. The only way to increase tax revenue is to ensure a healthy economic climate. If we increase taxes, this will only serve to stifle the post covid recovery.
Natural Resources: Ensuring Michigan's Land and Water are maintained for future generations.

Oversight of Government: preventing government overreach.

Emergency Management: Ensure Plans actually exist for the next disaster, communication is occurs between local government and the state, and that such plans do not overreach onto the Rights of the People.
Ronald Reagan is the first US President during my lifetime. I can remember sitting on the living room floor as a young child and being calmed, no matter what, by his soft yet firm and reassuring voice. Reagan was able to take an economic disaster, as we are currently experiencing due to covid-19, offer a bold plan and not be distracted. HIs "Tear down this Wall" statement is an example of what a Firm Reliance on the value of Freedom can achieve for everyone.
Ability to Listen, the Ability to Understand Key Technical issues, and ready to dig in to the issues and research proposed legislation. A Can Do attitude is what spurs positive action and results.
Effective Policies that put People First.
The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien: while an interesting work it also is inspired by the Bible. Once I learned that Professor Tolkien was a Christian it is one of the changes in my life that led me to want to be a Christian.
Samwise Gamgee: he is the only character in the Lord of the Rings who willingly gave up the Power the One Ring could give without suffering any inner turmoil or losing his sanity from holding it too long.
Government at various levels has been a struggle beginning with my first experience with the VA. By its nature, it can be sluggish and slow to respond. My role would be to structure government so that it not only listens, but acts.
Many state legislators who have never served in a local unit of government fail to comprehend affects of the laws and regulations they thrust upon local communities. It is important for legislators to realize that while they can pass laws and unfunded mandates, these issues can have real and immediate negative impact upon local communities. A wise legislator would have experience in local matters first to best represent all the needs of his or her constituents.
The Legislature creates Laws, and the governor acts upon them. There should never be a law, as with the emergency management acts, that transfers de facto law making power to the executive branch. This has been a failure of the Lansing Legislature for decades. The Ideal Relationship is one wherein both the Legislature and Governor understand and adhere to their Constitutionally Defined roles.
