I believe our federal government is rigged to benefit corporations over people and therefore the most important qualification Nebraskans need from their next senator is experience fighting for underdogs. I fought to uphold the constitutional rights of the poor when I worked as a public defender. I fought for justice for migrant farmworkers when I worked as an attorney for Legal Aid of Nebraska. And I fought for better pay and conditions when I served as the chief negotiator for my labor union.
  • I support Universal Basic Income. Every adult citizen should received a no-strings-attached monthly government stipend of $1,000.
  • I support Medicare-For-All.
  • It's time to end the War On Drugs and a good first step would be to pass federal legislation making marijuana legal in all 50 states.
I'm passionate about the following public policy issues:

1) Free and full health insurance for every citizen (Medicare For All). No more co-pays or medical bills. Canada does it for its citizens and America can too.
2) A no-strings-attached monthly stipend of $1000 for every adult citizen (Universal Basic Income).
3) Finally ending our failed War On Drugs-and we can start by passing federal legislation making adult marijuana use fully legal in all 50 states.

5) Slowing down global warming with a revenue-neutral carbon tax. A carbon tax would give companies a strong incentive to lower their greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, consumers would make greener choices because products produced with fewer emissions would be cheaper. Finally, a carbon tax could actually spur our economy if we redistribute all revenues collected from it to every citizen through monthly "climate compensation" checks.
Not accepting corporate money. Those who do always end up being corrupted by it.
Doing what's in the best interest of normal people rather than the rich and their corporations.
Dealing with the long-term economic depression that is just getting started.
I think it's more important to stand up for everyday citizens than to hobnob with other senators.
Sure, happy to do it. But I'm an anti-establishment progressive so I doubt the Democratic Party would invite me to be a part of their leadership.
The late Paul Wellstone from Minnesota. He always stuck up for the little guy.
