I am at least a fifth generation Morrow County resident, a multiple generation Republican, and third generation lawyer. I was raised in and graduated from Mount Gilead High School and worked at various pools when I was in high school and college as a lifeguard and pool manager.

I attended Ohio Northern University for undergrad and law school.

I returned to Mount Gilead where I opened a private practice, focused on family and criminal law as well as attaining my Guardian Ad Litem certifications, with my father. While in private practice I handled all manner of criminal cases and was death penalty certified.

I joined the Richland County Prosecutor's Office in July 2022 and remained there until the end of 2022 when I became a Magistrate in the Domestic Court. My proudest accomplishment at Richland County was successfully prosecuting an aggravated murder case as a last minute stand-in.

I was a Magistrate until July 2023 when I left that position to return to prosecution in Licking County Prosecutor's Office.

When I am not working I love spending time with my wife and son. I have been a volunteer youth sports coach and also love being involved in community events and volunteer opportunities at various festivals and the Morrow County Fair.

Along with my wife and son, our family is rounded out by our adopted dog, Tavish.
  • Transparency through publication of grand jury results, updates on cases, and disclosure of the results of trials conducted, pleas and sentencing.
  • Service to the community by remembering that this position is not a 9-5 but rather one where the work day concludes when the work that needs accomplished is finished. Further it is marked by personal availability to law enforcement, victims, and others needing the service of the prosecutor's office.
  • Justice for all. As a prosecutor we are held to the expectation that we will measure success not by getting convictions but by seeking justice in our cases. I look forward to holding accountable those who break the law for their actions and working hard to reduce return crime either through rehabilitation or restriction by means of incarceration. Often the people who come to the prosecutor's office as victims have never had to deal with the criminal system. I recognize to those unfamiliar with it that the criminal justice system can be scary so I will strive to make the process as comfortable as possible for them and make it so they feel heard, supported and believed.
Victim advocacy, support of law enforcement are at the forefront of my campaign along with transparency to the voters and justice for all those involved with my office.
I believe that 12 Angry Men is a movie that really exemplifies how I approach cases, even as a prosecutor. As someone who worked as a defense attorney for so long I often comb cases and work through them from that perspective to best analyze cases and determine the just manner of moving forward with charges.
A servants heart is the most important characteristic. While an elected position is necessarily a leadership role, the person filling that role must be willing and enjoy rolling up their sleeves and getting the work done as well. It helps to have someone who is invested in the community that they represent as well since that investment supports their drive to make sure that their office operates as effectively and beneficially as possible.
I am someone who prides himself on working hard and dedicating myself to serving Morrow County. I am experienced in leading by example and plan to not just delegate but partake. My love and investment in Morrow County help to drive me to want to succeed and to seek others who share that drive and vision to form a team that can be relied upon to further my goals for the office.

I also value transparency in the process so that it can be known that there is justice in our system which will help to reduce recidivism because it will be known that if you commit crime in Morrow County that you will be held accountable for doing so and that there is zero tolerance for victimization of others.
As county prosecutor my core responsibilities are twofold: I am responsible for the prosecution of almost all criminal matters in Morrow County with the exception of the Mount Gilead and Cardington mayor's courts; and I am responsible for the legal representation of all elected officials, county boards, and others who use the county prosecutor for answering their legal inquiries and needs.

As part of the responsibilities is supporting law enforcement and their investigation of criminal matters within the county. While there are different purposes between law enforcement and prosecutors we ultimately are seeking the same things in protecting the citizens of Morrow County.
I want to be known as someone who made Morrow County as safe as possible, that I was a hard worker and wasn't bound to the 9-5 that people think about when they currently think of county officials. I want to be someone that voters are proud to vote for because of my dedication to serving the county.
The first major event of actual significance that I recall was 9/11, and I was a sophomore in high school at the time.
I got certified as a lifeguard when I was 15 years old and began working at the Mount Gilead pool, I switched to the Cardington pool in summer 2003 and worked there until 2009 with the exception of 2006 when I worked at Candlewood Lake pools. As a part of my working as a lifeguard I attained my lifeguard instructor certifications and taught lifeguarding from 2004 until 2014.

Being around the water has always held a place of peace for me and while I no longer am a lifeguard I still find myself scanning the water when I go to pools with my family and have instilled a love for the water in my son.
I'm Coming Home by Skylar Grey. I am so excited to be coming back to Morrow County as county prosecutor because it means that my hard work and positive outcomes will impact where I live as well so there is twice the positives that comes from it. My family is important to me and currently so that I can be home for dinner with my family (something I feel that is crucial in the current world as it encourages communication and discussion amongst the family members) I have to leave the house at 4 AM to get to work and leave in time to get home. I am excited to see my family in the mornings again and have a cup of coffee with my wife while talking with my son about his day ahead at school.
Insert any groanworthy dad joke here.
I am proud to have been endorsed by members of law enforcement (current and former), decorated war veterans, victims of crime and their loved ones, and former clients who recognize my service to them and deep desire for justice. Letters are available on my facebook page as well as my website.
I believe that the prosecutor needs to be transparent as much as is permissible with citizens. Within the legal system there are certain things that understandably must remain confidential either for strategic or privacy purposes (juvenile matters and victim information should never be disclosed for their protection), but I believe that it is an expectation that citizens be kept apprised of the workings of the office and what their tax dollars are being used for with the prosecutor's office. Among these are updates on the grand jury indictments, case updates on major cases, and providing the results of cases as much as possible.
