Candidate Connection

Andy Clark participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on May 18, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Andy Clark's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1. Provide health insurance to almost half a million Georgians by accepting Medicaid expansion. 2. Strengthen gun laws, including by requiring background checks for all gun sales. 3. Guarantee 8 weeks of paid family leave for new mothers and others with family medical needs.[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

Health care, because no other public policy issue is bigger or more urgent. Education, because I want all Georgians to have the opportunities I've had. Civil rights, because protecting those rights is my job as an appeals lawyer.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]

Ballotpedia also asked the candidate a series of optional questions. Andy Clark answered the following:

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

My pledge, as a candidate and as a Senator, is to be respectful. That means to respect our laws, institutions, and traditions; to respect our diversity; to respect the voters’ intelligence; to respect those I disagree with; and to respect ourselves.[4]
