I am a married, Christian mother of three children and have four grandchildren. I have 20 years of experience in finance and contracts within the Oil & Gas industry, I am deeply committed to public education. I grew up in Fort Bend and attended school here from elementary through high school.

I have been an active volunteer in the district, serving on several committees, and as a “surrogate parent” for over a dozen children in foster care, advocating for their special education needs within Fort Bend ISD. I was also invited to serve on a hiring panel for a principal at one of the district’s schools. Additionally, I served on the PTO for 7-8 years, three of which I was President. During my term, we sponsored a successful reading program for ESL children, which the school later incorporated into their budget. When I began my presidency, the PTO was facing a financial deficit due to Covid, but by the end of my term, we had over $100,000 in the bank. We also launched a successful reading buddies program once school resumed.

I have always lived as a servant leader, focusing on helping children. I have opened my home to many children over the years and maintain lasting relationships with them. I believe every child deserves supportive people around them to help ensure their success.
  • As a candidate for the school board, my primary goal is to ensure that both parents and students feel safe and supported within our schools. At the same time, I believe it is crucial to maintain the autonomy of school administrators, allowing them the flexibility to enforce discipline effectively at the local level. This balance is essential to fostering an environment where academic excellence and student well-being are prioritized, while ensuring that each school can address its unique needs and challenges.
  • I am committed to ensuring that all teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, and staff feel valued, heard, and supported in their roles. It is essential that every member of our team has a voice and is provided with a safe, respectful environment to thrive. Additionally, I will advocate for fair and competitive compensation to ensure that everyone is paid appropriately for the important work they do. Their dedication and contributions are vital to the success of our community, and they deserve to be recognized and compensated accordingly.
  • There are a handful of words I hear thrown around all too often during this campaign; quality education, transparency, communication, and accountability. My hope is to be able to get back to the basics when things worked. Not only for the quality education , but communicating with the stakeholders, holding the district accountable, and overcoming the lack of transparency we have been given in the past. Building a solid foundation is key for our very diverse community and for our future.
I believe public policy should be developed at the local level, with direct involvement from those who are familiar with our community’s needs. It is essential that policy decisions reflect the unique challenges and priorities of our school district. Allowing external organizations, disconnected from our schools, to dictate policies could result in solutions that are not tailored to the specific needs of our students, educators, and families. Local input is vital to crafting effective, relevant policies.
There is a poem by Maya Angelou, “Still I Rise.”

This poem has really inspired me to keep doing what I am doing, and do not feed in to the awful negativity I experienced during this campaign.

As a Christian, I did pray and asked for the clearest sign, to ensure I was making the right decision and as I opened my bible box in the middle of the night after praying, the first thing I saw was;

“This is the moment for which you were created.” (Esther 4:14)

I knew in that moment I was doing the right thing.
1. Integrity

2. The ability to be unbiased
3. Communication
4. Empathy
5. Honesty
6. Transparency

I have list some key characteristics you should have however, I think one of the most important things to remember when you are representing over 80,000 children, the parents, teachers and all other staff is to remain your authentic self. I feel a lot of people initially have great intentions when they run for school board, but then they loose sight of why they run and then it becomes a political battle in the board room, and the consequences are put on the students and staff.
I care for people and have an empathetic nature. I am not afraid to make difficult decisions. I have the ability to work with all different kinds of people.
As a board member there are some key responsibilities.

1. Budget
2. Review and pass policies
3. Hire, evaluate, support, or terminate Superintendent.

According to Texas Code there are over 50 responsibilities.
I would want everyone to feel like they have been heard and they are important and their voices matter. I have often felt lost and overwhelmed when advocating for my children and my “bonus children.” Parents you are not alone!

I want everyone to know that I did this for all the children, the parents, teachers, administrators, and all other staff .
I worked at Burger King at 15, and then lifeguarded in the summers during the day. At 16 I worked at Randall’s for quite a while.
“I saw the sign” when I was putting up my campaign signs
Folding laundry😉

On a serious note parenting is hard sometimes. You do not have a manual to raise children, but you have to do your research and advocate for them. There is no one else that is going to advocate for your children except for you. Empower your children to be good people. Encourage them to be successful in whatever they decide to do. Be engaged.
None as of now. That has not been my focus. I wanted people to know me as a person.
