On her campaign website, Evans highlighted the following issues:[7]
Urban services
- Excerpt: "While it would be ideal to repurpose all of the underutilized property before expanding the USB, it might not be the most realistic or practical solution. However, I would not be inclined to expand the Urban Service Area without extensive discussions and research that concludes expansion is the most realistic option and will greatly benefit the future of Lexington. Regionalism should be considered in the city’s growth strategies, particularly when discussing transportation. Along with residents from neighboring cities coming to visit Lexington frequently, many of Lexington’s residents commute to jobs in neighboring cities, therefore, regionalism should be a strong consideration in planning Lexington’s growth."
Affordable housing
- Excerpt: "I believe a combination of rental vouchers and gap financing for projects will be required to achieve a sufficient level of affordable housing in Lexington. Yes, I strongly support a dedicated funding source for the program. The $3 million currently set aside is a start, but to seriously address the issue and reverse the current course, continued funding is needed. There must be a strategic plan to ensure the funds are not only maintained but actually grow, as it will require much more than than [sic] the current allocation to truly address the issue."
