I was born in the early 60’s into a large Lutheran Navy family in Virginia. My father traveled the world, retiring as a SCPO on Nuclear class aircraft carriers. We are proud of him serving.

My parents moved to Colorado in 1964 and I worked in retail, semiconductor manufacturing and sales starting with Texas Instruments in 1981 and over my career, have consulted to food, finance, military, high tech, bio technological pharmaceutical and petrochemical manufacturers. My husband of 26 years and I successfully raised two children and I moved after 53 years in the Colorado Front Range to Kalispell, Montana in Flathead County in 2017 to finish my consulting career and am currently retired.

I served for 6 years as PTA President in my children’s school and as volunteer elementary school crossing guard and Para Professional Reading Tutor and have volunteered as a builder for Habitat for Humanity, and trail maintainer for Colorado and Montana Trails. I am currently President of the Flathead Democratic Women. For fun, I snap photos, horseback ride, kayak, ski, hike or walk with Scout and generally saunter through the beauty of Montana.

I hold a MBA from Regis University, Denver, in Business Operations and Project Management and I am a Professional Project Manager, PMP. I have traveled the globe and have successful experience in leading and launching multi-million dollar projects and work well with those with diverse and opposing opinions. I look forward to serving Montana.
  • It is important to defend the Right to Privacy as written in the Montana State Constitution which also supports a woman's right to maintain a private relationship with her doctor when discussing and choosing medical options when related to her reproductive rights. I am endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana.
  • A Strong Middle Class: We need to address worker wages in light of record corporate profits. We need to address the issue of affordability and availability of housing for working and Montanans on fixed incomes. We need to consider eliminating tax on Social Security and Veterans' Benefits in Montana. I believe a strong middle class is the key to a strong economy in Montana. I am endorsed by the AFL-CIO.
  • Stewardship of the Future: It is critical that we protect and pass on a stable climate system for our youth. Education is critical and I believe in safeguarding and improving public education so that Montana's Children can compete as innovators in the global arena.
We need to fix the formula for residential property taxes, and also evaluate ways to fund K-12 and reduce the costs in higher education.

The current per student funding formulas need review. Next, we need to look at a boost to our teacher’s starting salaries and the salaries over the life of their careers. We need to be able to recruit the best and brightest teachers, and ranking 50 or 51st in the US in teacher salaries is not allowing for that.

We need to ensure vocational and industrial arts programs are fully funded and available in our schools. The costs to students who choose college needs to be brought back into an affordable range and supported with low interest, stable loans and financing.
My Grandmother, a kind, smart and peaceful woman who was a second generation German. She was the daughter of my Great Grandfather who came from Germany at age 15 in 1865. She was born in Kansas in 1890 and passed in 1986. She was opposed to Hitler, and sent her oldest son, my Uncle to fight in the wars against him. My Father was one of the youngest of her 10 children he served late Korea and early Vietnam. Both came home. Her other happy children were farmers, business men, teachers and two Lutheran Ministers.

She shared stories of survival and raising children on the Plains of Kansas and Nebraska. She was funny, never complained and was a bit like Queen Elizabeth in that she never changed her style ( 1930's) but was always beautiful.

Her life spanned prohibition, the great depression, went though wars, disease, famine, and massive technological changes.

I am told I am a lot like her and that makes me proud.
"The Post" 2017 with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.

Highlights the seedy, messy and ugly side of politics and how those who learn about this and then shed light are true heroes of our nation.

I find it incomprehensible that if you are granted a position of public trust, to represent others, that you would violate your oath to office or common everyday ethics for any personal or political reason. In the end, it is you and your soul and the weight of either the good or bad that you have done in your life. I choose good, recognizing that others do not. I choose to speak for Montanan's in Senate District 3.
Honesty, Integrity, Innovative, Compassion, Humility Grace, Good Communication Skills, Intelligence and a sense of humor.
I am a hard working person with the ability to be taught, ability to learn. I have kindness , compassion, and use strategic thinking and planning. I play well with others, practice open mindedness, cultivate curiosity, I have a clear conscience with good motivations and solid ethics, and have a clean background and I have good communication skills.
Montana State Senators provide representation to their constituents by serving on committees, introducing, fostering development of and voting on laws, and serving other special functions.
A beautiful, clean healthy state where Montanan's are kind to one another, respect each other and can enjoy the fruits of their individual labor.
I recall, the Kennedy Assassination, and the discussion of the Black Panther Riots in the early 60's as a child and my parents were upset. I was very young for both between 2 and 4.
At 13, for 4 years, I owned a House/Office Cleaning business, Sister's Cleaning Service. The accounts were given to me by a woman who I had babysat her children for the Summer and she remarried and moved. This paid for my first two years of college, my car and the down payment on my first house at 21. Until I could drive, I rode my bicycle across town at nights ( from 5-8PM) or on weekends to work and still attended school making Honor Roll often. I lived in a very safe, small town, where everybody knew everybody, on the Colorado Front Range-St Vrain Valley, much like Kalispell.

I gave the accounts/business ( a Realtor Office, Lawyer Office, Dentist Office and Doctor Office and 6 houses) to my friend when my mother remarried and I moved to a different city at 17.

I learned Customer Service, to keep the books and file taxes.
"The Scarlet Letter" - a old classic depicting how when a woman bears a child out of wedlock , thinking her husband was dead/lost at sea, she is punished publicly by having to wear the red letter A and is rejected by her village even though she spent her life doing what she could to help the sick and the poor. Because she was shunned, she spent her life mostly in solitude and did not attend church.

And yet.....she persisted to create a life of repentance and dignity and to realize that a person's earthly sins do not necessarily condemn them.
Fictional: Good Witch Glenda -" You've always had the power, my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself “ what a magnificent line for a child to learn. She also had a really beautiful gown.

Non fictional-I always tell people I would love to come back as female version of Laird Hamilton. He's a Surfer and it would have been so much fun to have spent my youth playing in the ocean and to become a world class athlete.

I greatly enjoy skiing and being outdoors, horseback riding, on water or hiking and to me the time I've spent mastering these sports have brought me great peace and joy.
We the Legislature, House and Senate, are the voice and conscience of the people to the Capitol and the Governor is the executor and leader of the State. The Legislators oversee the Executive Branch, it's budget and insures that its operations are aligned with State laws and the constitution.

I believe the best personal relationship is one of professionalism, partnership, understanding, respect and integrity.
Aside from the above three focus items:

The 2023 Montana legislative session included many attempts to weaken the independence and non-partisanship of Montana’s Judicial branch of government. This needs to be protected.

Laws, wasting valuable legislative time, were passed that were discriminatory in nature to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and privacy and existing environmental protection and public use laws were challenged, and finally many of those attacks were found to be unconstitutional and were overturned.

Protecting all people in our state and our current equal, fair and free Montana needs to be a priority. We are a nation of religions, not for religions. We are a nation of races, not for races. We are a welcoming and a leading state of Opportunity, Innovation and Commerce. No one should be less than for their origin, race, religion, political view or gender.

The Right to Privacy as defined in the Montana Constitution has been questioned and is one of the key tenants to what makes Montana great and should be recognized for the gift to the people of this great state that it is.
I believe it is important to understand and adhere to procedure and processes. Knowing who to work with is valuable experience. This can be taught. Past experience, does not always equal correct choices in Legislation, especially if that experience is narrow in it's breadth or self serving in its origin.
Yes! Ultimately we are a team working for the people of the State of Montana.
I have always believed it doesn't matter what you know, or how much you have, if you aren't kind to others.

Dave Fern - He's kind, smart, methodically thoughtful and works well across the aisle. Bob Keenan - He's smart and cares deeply about the issues that affect Montana's people. Brian Schweitzer- No previous political career and he was elected twice as Governor. He's funny and one of the nicest most sensible politicians I have met.
No, my heart "is in it for the Senate" and I'm eager to represent the people in Senate District 3 in ways that make their lives in Montana better.
I hear many stories of past and present legislators have rescued families and gone above and beyond to help constituents. Montana is a caring state.

Recently, a Veteran shared his story of needing costly private and VA care for a potentially terminal illness and how reaching out to a sitting US Congressman, helped him and his family to work through the system and get them the coverage that was needed to not lose their home.

I have had many discussion with seniors living in multi generation family owned homes who are in danger of losing them due to increases in Property Taxes and higher costs of living.

There are incidents of those struggling with mental health or care for a loved one with mental health issues that due to being removed from Medicaid, they no longer have the care or services needed to be sufficiently supported. We must stay up to date by addressing Medicaid funding needs.

In 2025, Medicaid Expansion is up for reauthorization. A very high percentage of participants are low wage working Montanan's whose access to mental health care is dependent on this program.
Any "Dad Joke"... but this one struck me as 'punny".

Why shouldn't you tell secrets in a cornfield?

There are too many ears all around.
The MCA 10-3-104 - General authority of governor covers what the Executive Branch can and cannot do in the event of an emergency. It is subject to Legislative oversight per Part 1.
First there are a few pressing issues with the affordability of living in Montana:

A Bill to eliminate the tax on Social Security and Veteran's Benefits.

Then, Ballot Initiative Shenanigans:

A Bill to define what is needed, either ordinary "Registered" Voter or Registered "Active" or Registered 'Inactive" voter status as a requirement for signature on Ballot Initiatives.

Then we need to be kind to others:

A Bill (or expansion of current legislation) to define as hate crimes offenses specifically based on Gender, Gender Expression, Sexual Orientation, Origin, Race, Religion, Disability or Political Party.
AFL CIO, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana

Finance Committee/Senate Finance and Claims
Taxation
Multiple Interim Committees

  Education
Children, Families, Health, and Human Services
Environmental Quality Council
I believe government needs provide full financial transparency and accountability, unless the matter is of importance to State or National Security.
I'm supportive of the current processes with the below concern.

I have concerns regarding the "Active" "Inactive" voter status being brought on for qualifying petition signatures when the only stated criteria is "Registered".
