I grew up in rural Virginia, on the border of North Carolina. My mother and grandparents worked in a cotton mill and my dad worked in construction. I started pulling tobacco in the summer when I was 12 years old, until my mid 20s for extra Christmas money. When I was 18, I also went to work in Dan River Cotton Mills, on 3rd shift, and got married, and had a daughter. After a few years, I decided to make a change and enrolled at Averett University and sought a BS in Business Admin specializing in Aviation/Aerospace Technology, while also working. I received a Commercial/ Instrument, Multi-engine/Instrument and Flight Instructor Pilot Liscence, with 13 Ratings. After graduating, I worked for General Aviation teaching Averett's students, and flew as a Commercial Pilot for several years. I remarried and joined the Police Department and worked as an Undercover Narcotics Officer and joined the VA Defense Force as a Pilot. I have now been living in North Carolina for over 32 years, and this is my home. I became a Minister in 2022. In January of this year, I worked in Fort Yukon, Alaska in the Arctic Circle, teaching Art and Aviation classes to indigenous native high school students. I am also an Artist. My husband works for Wake Gov and is a CPA and is retiring in Dec. Our daughter is an RN and graduated UNC, Chapel Hill. I have always felt the need to make things better and I believe I can do that serving the People of North Carolina.
  • As a former Police Officer my main focus is the safety of our children. No parent should ever fear sending their childern to school. Our children and their education is the future of our country. I want to protect that future, not only from gun violence, but, also drugs. I have the skills and knowledge to make that happen and with my military experience, I have the drive to follow through, on any and every task I have ever put before myself. I am not a career Politician, I have worn many hats and have walked in many shoes and will work tirelessly to protect our children, with common sense ideas and legislation, with facts, science and compassion. NC needs a change and not empty promises. Our childrens lives depends on it.
  • I believe every parent should have the right to choose which school they want to send their children to. I support school vouchers in our public and charter schools. There has been much discussion on this, but very little action. I want to change that, and work with parents through our legislative system and make this a reality instead of a talking point.
  • There are several things I would like to address here, first and foremost I believe in the Constitution, as it is written. I also believe in States Rights and one of those rights is education for all, and with that being said, our State has the responsibility to ensure that every student has the right of high speed internet and good qualified teachers. Our State is lacking behind on a national average in 'teachers pay' and that needs to change. There has been much discussion on the subject, but very little movement forward, along with our service workers pay and compensation. It doesn't affect our politicians and their pocketbooks, therefore it's not a top priority, it is one of mine and I will work to make this happen.
I am passionate about many things. I believe in workforce housing, and the right to try, equal education, price gouging and inflation, health care and medical assistance, law, order and accountability, the protection of our forest and wetlands, puppy mills and mostly the well being of the citizens of North Carolina and it's government.
It's got to be my maternal Granny, she helped raise me, she was such a strong woman. She worked in the Cotton Mill all day and would come home and immediately start cooking

dinner for all of us and never
once complained, every
single day. She took my sister and I at the beginning of
every school year and bought us school supplies and new clothes, she also hand made some of our clothes too. She took us to church every Sunday and Wednesday, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and not only did she do all of this, she and my Papa would grow a garden every year, and we grew up working in that garden with them, picking string beans, butter beans, tomatoes and cucumbers. I remember summers sitting on the porch shelling butter beans until my thumbs were raw, and she would can all that we didn't eat for the winter. I remember when some of the older family members were in bad health due to their age, she would always cook extra meals, everyday and take it to them before we sat down to eat, and when someone would stop in at dinner time unexpectedly, she would always fix them a plate, even if it meant giving up her pork chop or piece of chicken and making herself a sandwich afterwards. She was the kindest person I have ever known, always putting someone else before herself. When I went to work in the Mill on third shift she would take care of my young daughter who was about three at the time during the day while I slept, and she would watch her when I worked tobacco during the days in the summer. She would bring me a plate to the bedroom in the evenings when I was too tired to sit at the table with everyone else

and would say, 'you have to eat'. When I told her I wanted to go to college, she was my biggest supporter and was so happy I was going to break out of the Mill and work towards a better life. She is the one who told me my whole life, that I could be anything I wanted to be, all I had to do was want it and work for it, and I have.
I believe honesty and transparency are at the top of the list. Remembering why you decided to run for office and who you are working for and not delivering empty promises to secure your re election. I believe in time limits on Term's and that a lot more would get accomplished, if that were the case.
I am a hard worker, always have been. I believe in helping people in anyway that I can. I am a Christian and have a deep love for my family and my country. I think you should leave a place better than what you found it. I love this great State that I call home now over 30 plus years. I don't just believe that I can make an impact, I know I can. I like to complete things, actually it's more of a need. I am a people person and I have never met a stranger. I have worked as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and the Raleigh Rescue Mission, among several others in my youth. I understand when people are down and out and in need of a helping hand, and I'm always there to extend it. I love animals and believe in protecting their rights too, and I only have Rescue animals, and always will. But most of all, I'm not afraid to take on the Government and hold it accountable and serve the citizens of North Carolina with dignity, professionalism and pride.
I believe you should work tirelessly for the people that elected you and equally for those who didn't.
That I have left this place better than how I have found it. That my daughter will continue to grow in her life and career as an RN with all of the knowledge and love that I have passed down to her, that my Granny passed down to me, with peace, love and prosperity.
It was the moon landing, Apollo 11 in 1969. I was 6 years old and remember watching it on a black and white TV with rabbit ears wrapped in tin foil of course. Even at that young age I thought it was amazing and I remember running outside when it got dark and looking up at the moon to see them. I even thought I did, lol.
My very first job was pulling tobacco when I was 12 years old, and that sticky, twisted morning glory vines with gigantic spiders, job, lasted until my mid 20s. I remember my first season and my last, like it was yesterday! During my first season I was the only female out there and I worked mostly with grown men, who said, (at the beginning of the day, around an ungodly hour), "she ain't gonna make it a half a day". Well, little did they know, that NOW...I had to prove them wrong! which is exactly what I did, and not only did I prove them wrong, they just catapulted me into a silent race that I was not going to lose. Being a kid, with an internal silent race going on, I had to work harder and faster to win...see, I didn't have to stop and smoke and take breaks, and drink coffee and Gatorade...I just ran through the rows, often times screaming over the spiders, but I didn't let it slow me down! YES! They were out pulled by a 12 year old girl. I often wondered about their dinner table conversations went that night, I bet they thought they would never see me again, but I showed up everyday, on time and never slowed down, that is, until I hit my 20s. I honestly don't know what happened, even though I didn't smoke, I was now taking those coffee and Gatorade breaks, right there with the rest of them. It was quite funny at the beginning of the new seasons when new workers would show up from other farms and would ask some of my 'old timers' "what is she doing here, I bet she won't make it half a day".
I think there might have even some wagers placed. My last season was a bitter, 'sticky' sweet, it was the summer right before I started college in the fall. I had grown very fond of those old timers I had worked with over half of my life and knew I would probably never see them again, as I would be going to school fall, winter, spring and summer, but I do think about them, often, and smile.
I am such a big fan of History and especially European History, it would be hard to pinpoint.
Oh my goodness, it's a song my niece was singing to her new born daughter, something about rhymes and I don't want to think to much about it because parts of it will invade my brain 😆
Knowing when to slow down, I don't and I don't see it happening any time soon, but I don't know that it's a struggle so much, as it is my make up.
We have so many people moving to our great state, and we are suffering a housing crisis as many states are. I believe there will be a challenge in regards to growth and maintaining adequate green ways, and forestry.

I believe our infrastructures will not be efficient and effective in handling the commutes of our increasing population.

We need more schools and we need to be competitive when it comes to teacher salaries along with their aides and that of the janitorial, cafeteria, and busing employees.
I believe that legislators should have working knowledge of how things work within our Government and Civics. As far as experience, I believe in new ideas, which comes with each generation. Experience is gained often times through trial and error, I see that everyday, even now, with some of our most seasoned and experienced legislators in our Government. That's why I also believe in Internships,

which is a great way to achieve some of that experience. There are exceptions to every rule and with the knowledge of some of our most exceptional students who have put forth the time, effort and

dedication to understand how our government works, we should pave the way for their success, experienced or not, for they are our future.
Absolutely, alone we cannot achieve even a quarter of what we can, working together.
Yes. I have considered running for office for approximately ten years now, and when talking to several people in my district, and overall, the stories have remained pretty much the same. The majority of people I have spoken with, feel they are not heard, and are looked over, even when writing to their Congressman or Senator, they feel the response is a canned reply, with only their name filling in the blanks. I don't like any members of our society feeling like they only matter as a whole. That's why I finally decided to run for office, I am not a career Politician, I am approachable and sincere and look at everyone as individuals with individual concerns and I will listen to each and every one of them. That was impactful and memorable to me.
As I have said, school safety is my main concern and I have a plan that can implement that, and that is the first bill I will introduce, and if it doesn't pass, I will do it again and again and again, to insure the safety of our children against violence and drugs entering our schools.
Every single office should be required to release the amounts allocated to them and how it's being spent. It is the people's money, and it shouldn't have to be requested or hard to find.
