I was born and raised in Macomb County. I’m currently the President of Ignition Media Group, a Detroit-based full-service brand, and marketing agency. Before joining Ignition, I served as the Executive Director for Playworks Michigan. This non-profit organization helps kids stay active through the power of play.

In February 2021, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed me Chair of the Board and Executive Committee of the Michigan Municipal Services Authority. I serve on the board and am President of the Detroit Institute of Arts Founder’s Junior Council; I am a national board member, the State Chapter Chair for Michigan, and Vice-Chair of the National Labor Council for the Democratic Municipal Officials, a sister organization of the DNC; and a recent board member for 4Paws1Heart. I also co-chair the Michigan AFL-CIO Labor Caucus.

In past years, I’ve been recognized as Crain’s Detroit Business Notable Women in Education Leadership, Corp! Magazine Most Valuable Professional, and Crain’s Detroit Business 40 Under 40. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in Educating Adults from DePaul University. I Live in Warren with my dog and two cats and am the proud aunt of two nephews and a niece.

  • I am focused on the issues my constituents have shared with me: our aging infrastructure and the long term plan to fix our roads and protect our water; good-paying jobs and economic opportunity that allows families to afford childcare, healthcare, college education, and their basic needs; and bringing more civility and service back to politics and public office.
  • I have spent much of my professional and personal life dedicated to helping and advocating for others through my work and volunteerism in nonprofit organizations. There are not enough elected leaders who have firsthand experience of the impact of their policies on everyday Americans. It is a perspective that I will bring with me to Washington.
  • As a proud graduate of Chippewa Valley Schools, I am committed to high-quality public education and skills training to ensure that each student has the freedom to pursue the opportunities, education, and training that is best aligned with their goals and aspirations.
I am personally passionate about policy that focuses on equity and equality in our education system, our workplaces, and the opportunity for everyone to live their lives without discrimination or bias because of their gender, race, sexual orientation, or zip code. As a woman, I have often been overlooked, underestimated, and dismissed simply because of my gender. I have a proven track record of advocating for the underdog and disenfranchised and will continue to exercise the same commitment to equity and equality in Washington.
