I am an accounting & finance professional with experience in project management and community service. This background helps me make responsible budget decisions, see projects through, and stay focused on the needs of Red River.
- Bringing the Community Together:
Red River is at its strongest when residents work together and feel connected. I am committed to fostering unity by encouraging collaboration, listening to diverse perspectives, and ensuring that every voice in our community is heard. By strengthening these connections, we can create a more cohesive and supportive town for everyone.
- Supporting Sustainable Growth:
Our town continues to grow, and it’s important that growth is managed responsibly. I focus on improving and updating infrastructure, reviewing and modernizing ordinances, and addressing housing needs to ensure Red River remains a thriving, balanced community. Thoughtful planning today helps secure a strong, sustainable future for our town.
- Creating a Family-Friendly Environment:
Red River should be a place where families feel supported and can succeed. I am dedicated to policies and initiatives that provide opportunities for families, address affordable housing needs, encourage a safe and welcoming environment, and enhance the quality of life for residents of all ages. By prioritizing families and housing solutions, we ensure our town remains vibrant and accessible for generations to come.
I am passionate about public policy because it shapes the future of our community. Areas that are especially important to me include affordable housing, sustainable infrastructure and community development, support for families and community services, and updating local ordinances to reflect current needs. By focusing on these areas, thoughtful policies can improve quality of life, guide growth, and ensure Red River remains a vibrant, welcoming town for everyone.
It is hard to pinpoint one person, but I look up to public servants—people who dedicate themselves to helping others without seeking personal gain. The tangible rewards of their work may be modest, but the personal satisfaction and impact they have on their communities are immense. I admire those who put the needs of others first, who serve with integrity, and who work tirelessly to make a positive difference. Their selflessness and commitment inspire me in my own work on Town Council and in striving to contribute meaningfully to Red River.
I believe a good Town Council member must possess honesty, integrity, and transparency in all actions and decisions. Equally important is the ability to govern for all residents, not just a select few, ensuring that every voice in the community is valued and represented. A strong council member listens, collaborates, and makes thoughtful decisions that reflect the best interests of the entire town.
I believe the core responsibilities of someone elected to Town Council are to listen to constituents, represent all residents fairly, and make thoughtful decisions that are in the best interest of the town as a whole. Council members must communicate openly and clearly, maintaining transparency in every action and decision. Serving in this role requires balancing diverse perspectives, addressing challenging issues, and always prioritizing the long-term well-being of Red River. It’s a responsibility that demands dedication, integrity, and a commitment to ensuring every resident’s voice is heard.
The legacy I hope to leave behind is a stronger, more united Red River—one where residents feel connected, supported, and proud to call our town home. I want to be remembered for helping the community work together, making thoughtful decisions that balance growth with preservation, and creating opportunities for families to thrive. Ultimately, I hope my time on Town Council reflects a commitment to service, transparency, and meaningful progress that benefits everyone in Red River for years to come.
The most historical event that has occurred in my lifetime was the attack on September 11, 2001. Like so many others, I remember where I was and the profound sense of shock, grief, and uncertainty that followed. That day changed the nation, shaping our perspective on safety, resilience, and community. It also reinforced the importance of coming together during times of crisis, supporting one another, and valuing the freedoms and opportunities we often take for granted. The impact of 9/11 continues to influence how I view service, responsibility, and the role each of us plays in our communities.
My first job was as a cashier at a local grocery store when I was 16. Within a year, I became a lead cashier, responsible for closing the front end at night, counting and balancing money, and recording daily sales. I held this position for three years, gaining valuable experience in responsibility, attention to detail, and customer service—skills that have stayed with me throughout my career and community work.
One of my favorite book series is The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. I’ve always loved how it shows the battle between good and evil and the choices people make when things get tough. Beyond the adventure, it’s full of lessons about courage, loyalty, and standing up for what’s right—things that have stuck with me and guide how I try to live and contribute to my community.
I really relate to Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. She cares so much about her community that sometimes it can be a little “too much,” and I get that—I’ve always thrown myself into things I believe in and sometimes go a little overboard because I care. Like her, I want to listen, work hard, and do what’s best for the community. That’s the way I try to approach things in Red River—putting people first and really caring about making a difference.
A personal struggle in my life has been having a family member with an addiction. It’s something I don’t fully understand and wish I could, but it has taught me a lot about patience, compassion, and the importance of support for those facing challenges. Experiencing this has deepened my empathy and my desire to contribute to a community where people feel cared for and supported, even through difficult times.
I believe someone running for Town Council should have strong foundational skills in communication, problem-solving, and management. These abilities are essential for addressing community needs, making informed decisions, and keeping the town running smoothly. Additionally, budgetary skills are a definite plus, as they help ensure that resources are allocated responsibly and effectively for the benefit of all residents.
One accomplishment I am particularly proud of is building a career and life rooted in hard work and perseverance. I have worked consistently since I was 16, and after years as an accountant and comptroller, I realized my dream of becoming self-employed by opening my own office in 1998. Alongside accounting, I earned my residential contractor’s license and cabinet maker’s subcontractor license, and today I own a thriving retail and candy store here in Red River. I feel extremely blessed and humbled by these successes—achievements I never would have imagined possible—and they remind me of the power of dedication and determination.
