It is with passion and humility that I am seeking to serve Georgia's 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, and it is with gratitude for the service of Congressman John Lewis that I hope to carry on the torch for justice. I have lived much of my life in this very district, whether on the streets, behind bars, or in office buildings in Buckhead. I have tasted the greatness that Atlanta has to offer, and I have also experienced the hardships of injustice and suffering that exist for many across our city.
My story is one of merciful redemption: I was a sexually-abused child, a teen mom, and a prisoner...a single parent of five who frequented homeless shelters and had no hope...who became a non-profit founder, company creator, program developer for at-risk youth, and an advocate for those in need. It would be a privilege to use my testimony, my life experiences, and my resources to improve the lives of Atlantans and Americans alike.
I have a heart to see the restoration of our prisoners, the rehabilitation of our homeless, the protection of our children, and the empowerment of the next generation of Georgians. I believe that the healing and equipping of our vulnerable populations will lead to the flourishing of our city, and the defence of our God-given freedoms will enable us to prosper.
