Replacement question

No candidates filed to run in the replacement race. The vacancy created by the recall of Ternus will be filled via appointment by the Elizabeth Board of Trustees.

Recall supporters

Recall organizers have alleged that Ternus voted to benefit developers rather than in the town's best interests. The petition filed by David Conley, Jesse Kelley, and Peter Scott read in part, “Trustee Ternus doesn’t seem to understand the concept of servant leadership, and because of that she has even been demoted from her previous leadership position by fellow members of the Elizabeth Board of Trustees.”[1]

Douglas County resident Brad Hamill authored the recall petition.[1]

Recall opponents

During the town board meeting on September 12, 2023, Ternus read a statement. Of the recall, she said, "My recall was not about the job I faithfully performed on this board for the last eight years. It was a personal vendetta, just because I dared to push back on the lies many people were fed on social media. If you don't think so, look on social media." The meeting can be listened to in its entirety here.
