Gomez's 2017 campaign website listed the following priorities:[7]

Henderson, Nevada has a city manager - city council structure so the job of the Mayor, being ceremonial, is to make sure Henderson's Voice is heard and engage with the community to bring energy and uplift residents. My goal would be to get residents and students more engaged in the community, support small businesses while also getting them to support our youth, and above all make sure the voice of Henderson Residents governs how our city is run. GOAL OF PLAN: 1. The City of Henderson lists the Mayor as not a full time job. As Mayor, I'd make it my full priority to work 24/7 to bring change to the community and being Mayor would be my only job. 2. The Henderson City Council only holds 2 meetings a month and say they will only meet with Henderson Residents once a month if they see it fit. I would call on the city council to meet once a week, and on top of that I myself would hold meetings around the Henderson Community to meet with residents and hear their needs or suggestions on how to improve Henderson. I'd also like to meet with local businesses to see how Henderson could better assist them. 3. I will have more community events for residents to be able to meet their law enforcement officers. I think it is so important for the community and police to have a bond of trust. This bond is essential in a city that is considered to be one of the most safe communities to live in. 4. To inspire students I would be extremely involved with them by constantly visiting schools, going to their sport and academic events, and above all speaking to students of all ages about being motivated, striving in school, appreciating the value of family, and above all the importance of getting involved in their community. Getting elected Mayor at my age will send a strong message to the next Henderson generation that anything is possible; that their dreams are possible if you are humble, focused, and willing to go above and beyond to achieve their goals. 5. As the next Mayor of Henderson Nevada my top priority would be not just to inspire students but to give the next generation of Henderson more opportunities to get involved in the community they will inherit from their parents and to build better character. I believe if the next generation of Henderson is involved in their community, it will create a ripple effect of unity between residents, appreciation of our city, and very positive energy as our community moves forward. To get students more involved I'd like to create 3 different programs. (1) The first program I'd like to create is with our local colleges. I'd like to negotiate with colleges on getting their students to participate in the city program for college credit where the college students would go to elementary, middle, and high schools to educate students on college life, how to prepare for college, and finding a college degree that would best fit to the lifestyle they envision having. (2) The second program I'd like to create is a city wide student volunteer program that rewards students who participate with the chance to receive college scholarships, rewards such as movie tickets, and community awards. The volunteer work in this program would consist of multiple actions such as planting trees, going to senior centers, and helping renovate areas in our city with a growing infrastructure problem. (3) The third program I'd like to create would consist of participating students in grades ranging from middle to high school to visit with students who will be getting ready to go to middle and high school so they can learn about what it's like going to a new school. I think this would ease the transition and prepare students on furthering their education in a new place. In this program students can also earn college scholarships. Money for scholarships would be raised from local community events and also by negotiating with local business to hold fundraising days or donating directly to the fund. Henderson's city motto is A Place to Call Home. I've called Henderson home my whole life. I've lived here since the day I was born. I grew up in Henderson, Nevada. Henderson is a part of me and because of this great city, and its people, I am who I am today. I care about Henderson beyond words. I want to be able to bring a new energy to this phenomenal city and inspire the future generations of Henderson to achieve their dreams and contribute to the community they will inherit. Becoming Mayor, I would be extremely hands on and this opportunity is not only a chance to better Henderson but it also can be considered an investment for the future of this country. Since the day I was born, I've had one dream and that is to become President of the United States of America. My goal is to let the American People mold me into the leader they want and need. I ask the People of Henderson to band with me together and create history.[8] |
