Biography
Angus McKelvey was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. McKelvey graduated from Hawaii Preparatory Academy. He earned a B.A. in political science from Whittier College and a J.D. from Concord School of Law.[1]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Angus L. McKelvey was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Chayne M. Marten was unopposed in the Republican primary. McKelvey defeated Marten in the general election.[5][6][7]

On November 4, 2008, McKelvey won re-election to the Hawaii House of Representatives from Hawaii's 10th District, defeating Ramon Madden (R). McKelvey received 4,477 votes in the election while Madden received 2,000 votes.[12] McKelvey raised $14,315 for his campaign; Madden raised $5,206.[13]
