Anita L. Shodeen is the chief judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Southern District of Iowa. Shodeen was appointed to a 14-year term that began on August 26, 2009, and was elevated to the position of chief judge on August 26, 2013. [1][2]

Education

Shodeen earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and her J.D. from Drake University.[3]

Career

Shodeen began her legal career with a clerkship for Justice Jerry Larson of the Iowa Supreme Court. Thereafter, she joined the law firm of Beving Swanson & Forrest, P.C., where she specialized in bankruptcy matters and eventually became a member of the firm's partnership ranks.

While serving as a judge, Shodeen has served as a member of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Eighth Circuit. She has also taught as an adjunct law professor at Drake University Law, her alma mater.[4]
