Anita Lewis
Anita Lewis was a candidate seeking an at-large seat on the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education in Illinois. She ran against two incumbents and six fellow challengers in the general election on April 7, 2015.[1] She lost the election.[2][3]
Lewis participated in a candidate forum hosted by the DuPage County NAACP prior to the election with the other eight candidates in the 2015 school board race. They discussed their future goals for the district, the need for more staff diversity and discipline and safety issues.
Lewis previously served on the East Aurora Board of Education from 2009 to 2013, but she declined to run for re-election in 2013.[4]
Biography
Lewis has lived in Aurora for over 30 years. She has worked in customer service, purchasing and as a production manager for the Henry Pratt Company. She earned her bachelor's degree from DePaul University in 2009. Her two daughters graduated from the East Aurora School District 131.[5]

Four of the seven at-large seats on the East Aurora School District 131 Board of Education were up for general election on April 7, 2015. Only two incumbents, Raymond Hull and Mary Louise Peryea, ran for re-election. They faced the following seven candidates: Alex Arroyo, Kenneth Darby, Julie Garofalo, Mary Garza, Kimberly Hatchett, John Laesch and Anita Lewis.
Both incumbents lost their bids for re-election. Newcomers Arroyo, Darby, Hatchett and Laesch won seats on the board.

Funding
School board candidates in Illinois are only required to file campaign finance reports if they accept contributions or make expenditures in excess of $5,000 in a 12-month period.[6]
Lewis reported no contributions or expenditures to the Illinois State Board of Elections in this election.[7]
