Honorable Ann E. McKown was a district court judge for the 14th Judicial District of North Carolina. Ann E. McKown was appointed to the bench in 1998 by the Honorable Jim Hunt. She was also elected in 1998, 2002 and 2006. Judge McKown received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1971 and her Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University in 1977. Prior to serving the District Court Bench, Judge McKown practiced privately in her own firm for more than 15 years. In 1977, Judge McKown began her career as the first female Assistant District Attorney in this district. Judge McKown is the current president of the CJAB for the 14th Judicial District. She also presides over juvenile and family law cases.[1]
