Ann Lebo
Ann Lebo was the Iowa Director of Education. She assumed office on March 13, 2020. She left office on March 14, 2023.
Biography
At the time of her appointment, Lebo was the executive director of the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, where she first started working in 2016. Prior to that, Lebo worked as a secondary principal in Grundy Center Community School District and an adjunct professor at Waldorf University. Lebo also served as a member of the Board of Educational Examiners from 2013 to 2014. Her professional experience includes working as an athletic and English instructor at the secondary and postsecondary levels.[1][2]

Political career
Director of the Iowa Department of Education (2020 - 2023)
Lebo was appointed director of the Iowa Department of Education by Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), effective March 13, 2020. Lebo replaced outgoing director Ryan Wise, who resigned to become dean of the School of Education at Drake University.[3]
About the office
The director is responsible for providing leadership for the Department of Education. The director also serves as the executive officer of the State Board of Education.
