Gorman's campaign website stated the following:

Let’s address some of the hurdles to doing business in our state. Business Support for Individuals and Companies The Secretary of State’s office should be a high-functioning operation that extends assistance to anyone currently conducting or wishing to conduct business within the state. From taking the first steps to set up a business to conducting a multi-million dollar agency, support from the state should exist every step of the way. We can start by completely overhauling the SOS’s website, by sharing and promoting resources online, and by strengthening the office’s public outreach efforts. Furthermore, Arkansas is teeming with some of the brightest entrepreneurial minds in the nation. This office can play a critical role in connecting innovators and creating an entrepreneurial support network. On Franchise and Business Taxes Let’s use technology to our advantage and create a system that removes barriers and burdens from business owners. We can start by implementing an automated system that notifies individuals about upcoming payment deadlines and by providing more streamline payment systems. Everyone’s busy and public notices are easy to miss. Let’s elevate the existing customer service standards of SOS’s office and meet people where they are. Business Naming Now is the time to review and overhaul the system that facilitates the naming, filing, and recording of new business entities in Arkansas. If you’ve ever navigated our current system, you know how unclear and arbitrary it seems. By removing impediments in this area, we will be encouraging people to establish businesses within our state instead of taking their ideas and commerce elsewhere.
Elections As the chief elections officer of the state, I will build strong relationships and work closely with the individuals tasked with facilitating elections in all 75 counties. I will be unrelenting in my efforts to ensure that Arkansas is in compliance with federal and state election laws, such as the National Voter Registration Act and the Help Americans Vote Act, and I will be diligent in my efforts to ensure that election workers are properly trained throughout the state. I recognize the importance of our counties in the election process and will ensure they have every resource they need to successfully execute their responsibilities during every election. Defending the Democratic Process I will utilize the influence and power of the Secretary of State’s office to stand against any effort that serves to minimize the voices of Arkansas voters or restrict their constitutional right to participate in free and fair elections. Civic Education By working with individuals, nonprofits, corporations, and other stakeholder groups throughout Arkansas, we can discover more innovative ways to increase voter participation and boost civic learning statewide. Right now, Arkansas has the lowest voter turnout in the nation. This has to change. We want Arkansans to participate in the democratic process. The Secretary of State’s office can play a fundamental role in understanding what has led to such poor participation and working with interested parties to develop strategies and solutions to boost voter turnout.[1] |
