Anna Marie Anzalone is a judge for the 39th Circuit Court in Lenawee County, Michigan. She was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Snyder on May 21, 2014, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Timothy P. Pickard. Anzalone won election in 2016 to serve out the remainder of Pickard's term.[1]
Education
Anzalone received her undergraduate degree from Toledo University in 1991 and her J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law in 1998.[2]
Career
Before her appointment to the 39th Circuit Court, Anzalone practiced law at her own law firm. She also served as a public defender for Lenawee County and was an adjunct professor for Jackson Community College.[1]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[3] Incumbent Anna Marie Anzalone defeated Phillip Schaedler in the 39th Circuit (partial term) general election .[4]

General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 40.4 percent of the vote. She competed against Jonathan Poer and John Glaser (write-in).Anzalone was on the ballot for District Court 2A in 2014, but was an inactive candidate. She was appointed to the circuit after filing her candidacy for the district court, and could not remove her name from the list because it was past the deadline.[5]
