I am a Black, Caribbean American women from Minneapolis MN. I am a mother of two beautiful daughters. A lover of making a difference and motivated by action. I have spent the last five years dedicated to my community in Ward 5, advocating and fighting for policy, housing, environmental justice, youth programming, and transit infrastructure that puts the people first. I have a Bachelors degree in Communication Studies and I am currently seeking my Masters in Public Administration.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling and trying new food. I have managed to make it to 26 of the 50 states so far, and to 7 different countries. When I retire, I would love to spend my life traveling to different places with my daughters.

When it comes to making a difference in my community, I am motivated by the lack of investment and the negative connotation that North Minneapolis has. I've only ever lived in New Hope as another city in Minnesota and Nashville, TN while in college and to me this is one of the most beautiful places that I have experienced. From the true sense of community, to the beautiful homes, and the smell of doughnuts on West Broadway early in the morning. There is no other place that I would rather live, work, and play and I want to help elevate that story.

I think that I want my constituents to remember me as the candidate that is genuine about change in the community. I don't just talk about what I will do, but everyday I spend my time in some way advocating and fighting to make a difference in the community. I take space in many coalitions from the Housing Justice Coalition, Bring Back 6th, Blue Line Coalition, and Zero Burn. I am also the Chair of the Highway Harms Policy Group for the Metropolitan Council.

It's local government and I do think people understand how important this level of government is. This office makes a lot of decisions that I believe that voters are unaware of. This office also helps push issues up to the state government and legal systems.
I am a fan of both Barack Obama and Jasmine Crockett. I would love to grow into a power house mix of the both of their energies combined. I feel like they both have this fighter in them but in different ways. Barack Obama had a wit about him that I enjoyed watching, I was also impressed with the way that he meshed so well with leaders of other countries. While Jasmine gives me this fuel to tell it like it is and never backdown. Seeing her in action is always encouraging.

Public Safety and Quality of Life
I want to leave the legacy of building and elevating the story of Ward 5 being the best place to live, work, and play in Minneapolis. From community to quality of life for everyone that lives here. Through economic growth, restorative practices, and community development.
I remember 9/11. I would have been 7 years old at the time. I do not believe that this is the first historical event, but it is the first one that came to my mind.
My first job was through the Step-Up program here in Minneapolis. I worked for KBEM Jazz Radio station. It was a summer internship for a three month duration. After that I worked at McDonalds for three years until going to college.
Everything on a local level which is a big power. The power of constituents elevation in issues, and the power to make real change by pushing ordinances. I would also add the power of relationship building.
Yes and no. I say this because I believe that this is an office that can be taught. Someone is coming in fresh with no experience could be beneficial as they individual may come in unbiased and motivated in a different way then someone that has previous experience.

Trust building
This office possesses the uniqueness of being able to spend time in the community and taking real issues that are at the forefront and bringing real change. The relationship between community and policy is what I think is super important when providing real governance.
I am most proud of being the first person in my family to go to college. This accomplishment means so much to me because my younger siblings have acknowledged that they have decided because I showed them that it was possible. I now have a sibling that is a nurse and one that is going to law school. I have helped break cycles in my family.
