Cruser was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee (D) on February 15, 2019, to replace Jill M. Johanson, who retired at the end of that month.[1]

Cruser was a judge on the Cowlitz Superior Court from 2017 to 2019.[2]

Cruser served as a judge pro tempore for the Cowlitz County District Court for five years.[2]
