Anne Hoskins
Anne Hoskins is a former member of the Maryland Public Service Commission. She was appointed to the commission by Gov. Martin O'Malley, effective August 2013, for a term ending June 30, 2016. Hoskins was named to 5-member executive board--charged with regulating public utility and transportation company services statewide--to fill the vacancy created by Kevin Hughes' promotion to the commission chairmanship.[1][2] She left the commission in July 2016 after her term expired and was succeeded by Anthony O'Donnell.[3]
Biography
Hoskins holds a B.S. in Applied Economics from Cornell University, an M.P.A. degree from Princeton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.[2]
Hoskins' professional experience in utility management and public policy includes over six years as Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Sustainability for the Public Service Enterprise Group in Newark, New Jersey. Before that, she was head counsel for Verizon Wireless and a Public Capital Program Coordinator for the Center for Policy Alternatives. While in New Jersey, Hoskins served as policy adviser to former Governor Thomas Kean.[4]
An attorney licensed to practice in Maryland, New Jersey and Washington D.C., Hoskins' legal background has traversed private and government sectors working on issues relating to telecommunications, energy and the environment. She lectures on these subjects as well, most recently at Princeton University's Andlinger Center on Energy and the Environment. There, Hoskins conducted research and facilitated roundtable discussions on clean energy policy and distribution in the position of Visiting Research Scholar.[2] Hoskins is also former associate at the firm of McCarter and English and attorney for the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where she pushed for federal anti-discrimination banking regulations.
