Gurney ran for election in the 2012 election for Oregon House District 45. Gurney was unopposed in the May 15 Republican primary and was defeated by incumbent Michael Dembrow (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]

Gurney was defeated in the November 2 general election by incumbent Michael Dembrow.[4]
