Three of the five seats on the Hayward Unified School District board of trustees were up for at-large general election on November 8, 2016. Incumbents Luis Reynoso, John Taylor, and Annette Walker filed for re-election. They faced challengers Robert Carlson, Todd Davis, Daniel Goldstein, Wynn Grcich, and Joe Ramos.[3] Walker and Reynoso won re-election to the board, and Carlson won the other seat on the ballot.[4]

Funding
Walker filed an exemption form detailing she would not spend or receive more than $2,000 for this campaign. Because of this, she did not have to file additional campaign finance reports.[5][6]
Endorsements
Walker was endorsed by the Alameda County Democratic Party and the community organization Evolve.[7][8]
