Noteworthy events

Allegation of misconduct (2013)

The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission sent a 'letter of informal adjustment' to reprimand Hendricks for misconduct. The admonishment stems from an incident which reportedly took place April 16, 2013. Hendricks admittedly sent several text messages to her sister's ex-husband, Terry Weidman. According to the commission, in the texts Hendricks told Weidman if he did not return an iPad which belonged to her sister and her nephew, Hendricks would report his behavior to the prosecutor. Weidman responded by asking her what she planned to report, since he was merely looking at his son's iPad. By text, Hendricks responded,

Choose your actions wisely![5][6]

The rules of conduct for judges in Arkansas require that they promote public confidence through their actions and not engage in conduct which could be seen by the public as behavior which might coerce a person to do something.[7] According to the commission, Hendricks engaged in coercive behavior during her text message exchange with Weidman.[5]

Since Hendricks admitted her error and promised not to engage in such conduct in the future, the commission issued an informal reprimand. However, if additional violations were to occur in the future, Hendricks could be subject to more serious disciplinary action.[5]
